Auturo, though I prefer to call him Bandini, in honor of John Fante (and Bukowski, really, you know?), is a filmmaker staying here at Aaron’s. (Aaron is also a filmmaker, which is one reason they hang out. And, um, work together). They’re leaving tonight for New York. Driving. Tonight. For 21 hours.
Bandini only eats fruit. I’m serious. Apples, cucumbers, tomotoes and figs. He did have a bit of chicken andouille sausage the other night, though. I can’t figure him out. He gets up at 5 a.m. and bikes for at least two hours. Took a spill today. Carbon fiber isn’t so great when it hits asphalt. He’s directing a series of web shorts about two guys who…. I can’t tell you. But it’s funny. The footage they have (he and Aaron, who is line producing) is very funny in the same way The Office is, except it is many degrees closer to being real (well, it is real, except for a little, well, directing). With man-on-the-street interviews in locations that will connect with a lot of people both because of the iconic locations, and the variety of people they were able to interview. Some people just give you gold.
Anyway, there’s Bandini.
